I believe there are more consignment store in Scottsdale than any other city in the US. Why, you wonder! According to several of the consignment store managers it is not uncommon for a homeowner to come in and ask that they come and pick up the furniture for a whole room, or even a whole house. With one of the most dense areas of $5,000,000+ homes there is an abundance of exclusive furniture here, and when the homeowners decides to do some updates, they spare no expense.
Much of the furniture looks and even smells brand new, never sat upon and never used. That said, consignment stores are not equals; some only accept the really high-end stuff, others are less discerning which means you have to weed through a lot of cr.p but you can also make awesome finds.
Beware, since the furniture is consigned it means the original owner sets the price, which may or may not have anything to do with reality. It is actually possible to find furniture priced higher than the brand new item. You need to know what you are doing if you are going to make really good deals.
