I was up early at 6am to join a conference call, well before the sun was up. As I looked at the thermometer I noticed the temperature was still falling. At around 7am, just as the sun worked its way over the horizon, it hit its lowest point at 25° F (-4° C). This is the coldest I have experienced since arriving in Scottsdale a year ago. I do wish our plants weather this cold snap.
As Kay was saying “the desert has been cold before, there is no reason the cacti wont survive”. I am sure she is right. In any case, we have the potted lemon trees wrapped up and I moved our newest potted cactus up close to the house. Now the sun is up and the temperature is rising quickly. It looks like we will have yet another day in paradise.
